Bad decisions indeed do make for great stories. However, I guarantee that every bad decision that made for a great story had consequences and repercussions that, most likely in many cases, overshadowed or at least mitigated the great story itself. And, in probably some cases, those consequences and repercussions only served to make the resulting great story even greater! Certainly my story is no different. It is one littered with decisions, some good and some bad... but essentially they are all mine and are all part of a bigger picture... my life!
In order to even make the claim that ‘Bad Decisions Make Great Stories’ one should add the qualifier question: ‘But At What Cost?’
I would say that one (or many for that matter) might say that my decision to even be involved in the marijuana industry at a time when it was totally illegal was a bad decision, especially when I had other opportunities at the time that were totally legal and among the most respected in society.
I suppose that in retrospect, looking back as a ‘Monday morning quarterback’, that ‘bad’ decision I made on the day of the moon landing in 1969 as described in my book on page 1, resulted in and led to the following 540 page, 20-year adventure that I ultimately wrote about. Hopefully it will be remembered as a great story, then it will have been worth it... because it came at great cost; financial and otherwise. I would say that in order to even make the claim that ‘Bad Decisions Make Great Stories’ one should add the qualifier question: ‘But At What Cost?’
I have a ‘government’ tail behind me as a felony for the rest of my life, but I do have a great tale to tell...
